Shaheed a very heart touching poem by 'Gunseerat Kaur' a small little 12 yrs amazing girl with great sense of humour and sestivity.
I flipped the page,
and turned to the next chapter of my patriotic book.
I read a name—Bhagat Singh.
The Britishers called him an obnoxious crook,
while the Indians praised him profusely.
I flipped the page with curiosity.
In bold letters, it was written:
a great freedom fighter.
The more I read, the more I knew—
he was a man who wanted to touch the skies
and make our future brighter.
He had witnessed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre;
at a very young age, he realized it was not fair.
He dreamed of unity and harmony—
that was his vision
for an independent India.
Amazed by his personality,
I continued to read.
There it said—
he sacrificed himself for the nation
when he was only twenty-three.
He wanted the nation to be free.
It was not the death,
but suppression, that scared him.
And so he fought with his fear.
The national anthem—
that was what he longed to hear.
At last, I turned the final page,
and I understood—
he was one of the main voices
who freed India from the cage.
Even when he was silent,
his voice still echoed.
He told us to have courage.
I closed the book—
weeping, yet proud.
For I will remember him
not just as a leader who was great,
but as the spirit of freedom
that still beats in our hearts.
