A Self-growth plan you need this year

Perfection is rarely achieved by anyone. Therefore, there’s always space for growth and changes in one’s life. Life is imperfect but it’s always fun to try and make a coherent sense of it by striving to be better at living. Self-growth refers to one’s journey toward increasing one’s abilities and bringing positive changes in behavior, habits, and personal attitude. It impacts your daily life and gives you purpose for waking up in the morning.

It is said that ‘’growth is often uncomfortable, messy, and full of feelings you weren’t expecting’’ but being consistent with it rewards you very well. It helps to improve your social standing and relations with your friends, family, your employer, and colleagues.

Productive plans for new year

The following are some self-improvement plans that could make your life and career better.

1. Managing stress and other emotions

One thing that may be holding you behind in life is stress, because it impacts all areas of your social life and mental health. Emotional intelligence is hard to achieve but is very beneficial as it can help you manage and control your emotions, directing and channeling them in the right place and towards the right person or crowd. You could learn to take constructive criticism and practice mindfulness. Avoid denial at all costs, as it will only make you feel worse.

2. Setting of boundaries

If you are tired of people invading your personal space and disrespecting your individuality, it’s high time you took that power back. Being straightforward and addressing this directly to people around you is necessary. Being assertive when others make you feel vulnerable is something you should do because no other person is going to stand for you other than yourself.

3. Positive self-talk

You spend most of the time with yourself and probably no one understands you better than you, but sometimes we tend to be hard on ourselves. Take some time off of social media. Comparing yourself to unreachable standards is futile and only adds to insecurities. Engage in positive self-talk and set a growth-oriented mindset. Reciting a few affirmations in the morning can change how you see yourself and you will start to have faith in yourself.

4. learning a new skill or hobby

With increasing competition for jobs and other opportunities, it is no news that skills are prioritized by employers. It is a time-consuming task that will also increase your knowledge. Learning about digital marketing, effective communication, mastering online banking, etc are a few of the many skills you need to hone to survive in this technologically advanced society.

Make yourself more productive by learning an instrument, a new language, writing a journal, or reading.

5. Prioritizing physical wellbeing

A physical body does not only mean a muscular one, it entails a whole lifestyle and habits you are accustomed to. It means getting to bed early and waking up before the sun rises, a well-balanced diet that should have substantial amounts of protein, carbs, and vitamins. Walking ten thousand steps and maintaining overall sanitation well.

If you are looking for weight loss, follow a certain diet while also keeping in mind not to starve yourself. Gaining weight can be equally challenging and you needs discipline to achieve fitness. The most important thing of all is staying hydrated. So try to drink 6-8 glasses of water every day and minimize the consumption of any soft drink which contains a lot of sugar.

6. working on self-confidence

Being loud is not confidence. The trust you put in yourself can be achieved by appreciating yourself, thinking positively, checking up on your progress, and boosting self-esteem. All it takes is action. Working on your body language and communication skills can boost your self-confidence to a great extent. Having a low opinion of yourself is not working out for your mental health. Don’t be afraid to try new things.

7. Healthy Relationship

Communication is key to any healthy relationship. There will be many times when things might not be all flowers and chocolates with your partner, but talking openly and hearing out your significant other erases confusion or any other sort of argument. Regular sex in a relationship ensures intimacy, emotional connectivity and trust between partners. For many people, physical touch is a love language or a way of expressing their love. We all want to be with the right person at the right time and it is all about trust and being true to yourself that you will be able to protect your relationship at the right time. So, instead of deceiving, come forth as you really are.

8. Productivity

Following a fixed and healthy routine can surely increase your productivity. Make a to-do list and prioritize what needs to be done first and act on it promptly without multitasking as it will only slow you down and distract your mind. Procrastination holds you back, so if you can do a piece of work now, why do you need to put it on tomorrow at all?

Summing it up

Self-growth requires patience and perseverance. A positive mindset and trusting the process will allow you to achieve anything that you want in life, regardless of setbacks or doubts at the beginning. Make this year a year of action instead of talking and work it out for your benefit.
