2022 marked the beginning of a new era for India’ Startup ecosystem. This year we are celebrating the inaugural “Startup India Innovation Week and from this year onwards 16th Jan celebrated as National Start-up Day. It is to celebrate our achievements in the start-up ecosystem and to prepare us for our future strategy. This decade called as India’s “TechEd era”. Start-ups from the 75th year of independence to the 100th year of independence will play a crucial role in India’s growth and development.
In this Era, we are focusing on the INNIVATION, ENTERPRENURESHIP, and START-UP ECOSYSTEM improvement. There are various challenges, which needs to be addressed as
1. Entrepreneurship: to remove silos and web of bureaucratic hurdles for entrepreneurs
2. Promote Innovation: to create institutional mechanism for innovation promotion.
3. Youth Innovators: handholding of youth innovators
Steps taken to tackle these issues are: creation of Startup India and Standup India Schemes, removal of angel tax, reform in tax filling system, incentive from the government in the form of venture capital or angel funding.
Startup India scheme made labour and environmental compliance via self-certification and documentation processes by self-attestation has made the process very convenient. A startup can sell their services and products on GeM {Government e-Market} portal via “Startup Runway”.
In today’s India, policies formed to ease and encourage its Youth’s innovation and creativity. They are around 9000+ Atal Tinkering Labs that helps to boost innovation among children. It also promotes innovation in each sector. It provides innovation and technological solutions to the current problems of India via many Hackathons.
New drone rules, new space policy, IPR registration rules are simplified, state and centre promote numerous incubators. Institutions like iCreate (International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology) support start-up and innovation.

“Mission of Innovation” has improved India’s Global Innovation Index from 81 to 46 (Under 50). India’s startup ecosystem has passion, sincerity and integrity. It keeps on rediscovering itself and is in a learning mode to adopt and adapt as per the challenge. India's start-ups are working in 55 different industries. Currently, we have 60000+ start-ups working in India. Our start-ups are changing the rules of the game and going to be the backbone of New India.
Start-ups are also solving our regional development and gender disparity issues. Today youth from Tier II and Tier III cities are developing their ideas via start-up ecosystem. In 2021, we have 44 unicorns, which itself is a milestone for New India.
India’s diversity is our global identity, and our start-ups are the harbinger of this message. From simple door delivery service to cab aggregators, we are meeting the need of Indians and global customers.

Mission LIFE(Lifestyle For Environment) and P3(Pro People Planet) movement is the need of the hour. Communities must participate against the war of Climate change. Smart mobility and smart cities can help in achieving our climate targets.
Start-up has democratized the ideas of semi urban to rural areas. Women and local business are empowered such as Lijjat papad, leading this local to global. Even virtual tourism is a new way in this pandemic.
Local businesses can be empowered by the start-ups, as local businesses are the backbone of India’s economy and start-ups are the game changers of new India. This partnership can be boon for our society especially women employment and empowerment.
